About Heidi Stewart

Heidi Bio

I don’t know what your destiny will be, but one thing I know; the only ones who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve. ~Albert Schweitzer

My life has been dedicated to community service and to supporting a diverse client population with legal, collaborative, and dispute resolution services, as well as serving others in the areas of governmental and nongovernmental organizational management and development.

I attended Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, North Carolina as a non-traditional student and graduated with a combined degree of History and Political Science. I then attended North Carolina Central University School of Law obtaining a law degree.

Returning to the mountains, I was selected to attend Leadership Asheville in 2003. I have served as an adjunct professor at Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College. A member and past president (twice) of Asheville Toastmasters Club #436 of Toastmasters International, I currently serve as a volunteer Mediator and Arbitrator at the Better Business Bureau of Asheville-Western North Carolina, and in the past on the Executive Committee of the 28th Judicial District Bar.

Prior to entering into private practice, I served as the Coordinator of Buncombe County Child Care Resource and Referral and as the Assistant Director and Development Director of The Mediation Center, Inc. I volunteered as an initial Board Member and then the start-up Director of The Family Visitation Center Group, Inc., a nonprofit organization which provides safe child exchanges and supervised visitations for families who have issues with domestic violence or child abuse or neglect in Asheville.

With over 15 years of experience and a background in non-profit and governmental management and development, as well as legal matters and dispute resolution techniques, I seek opportunities to provide service to others, incorporating my skills in organizational strategic planning, grant, contract and program management, engagement planning and coordination, and relationship building in a creative manner.

I am honored to be able to assisting my clients in navigating their legal and life situations.
