The 2016 Women of Wisdom Celebration

On June 2, the Western North Carolina Chapter of the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys held the 2016 Women of Wisdom Celebration honoring women lawyers celebrating 25 years of service in our state. 24 local lawyers were honored with the Women of Wisdom Silver Service Award.

In addition to the Silver Service Awards, the Women of Wisdom Celebration annually presents the Themis Award. The Themis Award is presented to the person who has contributed the most to improving the status of women in the legal profession. The 2016 Awardee is deservedly Leah Broker of Asheville’s Broker & Hammrick firm. From the very beginning of her career, Leah chose to serve local programs and organizations benefitting women, women lawyers, and young lawyers. She is the 2014 recipient of the Gwyneth B. Davis Award for Public Service, and her firm received the 2011 NCBA Pro Bono Service Award, as well as the 2006 Balanced Life Workplace Award for a small firm. Leah has accomplished much in her career. She will be recognized in 2017 Women of Wisdom Silver Service Award recipient.

Heidi was both a sponsor of the event and served on the Women of Wisdom committee. Heidi is pleased to be among the sponsors for this event, which included individual lawyers, law firms, local businesses, and the District Bar.
